What to Do For the Weekend in Grayton Beach

There’s so much to do in Grayton Beach that it can be daunting to decide where to begin — especially when you only have the weekend. Trying to determine what to do becomes yet more complex when you have to find something that will please the whole family. Assuming you’ve already taken into consideration going to the beach, here are some activities and events that you can enjoy all in a single weekend.

Explore the Park

A nice day with fair weather is perfect for a trip to the park. Grayton Beach State Park offers more than simply the beach. Here you can find state park cabins to stay for the weekend, kayak along the coastal dune lakes, bike, or take in the natural wildlife. You can also go hiking at the denser Point Washington State Forest, or take in tranquil gardens as well as historic architecture with Eden Gardens State Park. Eden Gardens is made up of about 163 acres that were once the historic Wesley Homestead, preserved to look much like it did originally in 1897.

Go Fishing

Fishing is always a leisurely weekend activity, and one you can enjoy any day of the weekend. You can take a ride on a chartered boat, like those from Fish Booty Charters, or rent a kayak and hit the coastal dune lakes. Here you can find striped mullet, sailfin molly, bay anchovy, Gulf flounder, gray snappers and much more. You can make a family excursion out of your trip or getaway for some quiet time yourself, and whether you plan to throw them back or enjoy your catches, Grayton Beach has plenty of fishing opportunities for you.

Take In Some Art (Or Make Your Own!)

Are you and the family fans of arts and crafts? There are galleries and artistic hubs to explore throughout Grayton Beach. On Friday, check out Saczynski Gallery at nearby Santa Rosa Beach for whimsical art from local artist Andy Saczynski. On Saturday, for something a little more realistic, check out the gallery at Modus Photography, right next door to Rock Paper Scissors 30A. And then of course, there’s Rock Paper Scissors 30A once you’ve got the creative bug. We offer art classes for children of all ages to nurture that wild childhood imagination and an open studio where your child can make their own creations (open Tuesday through Saturday).

Between arts, nature, surf, and leisure — and of course the various delicious restaurants in town — you can have a full and exciting weekend in Grayton Beach that will leave you excited for your next trip to Grayton Beach. And Rock Paper Scissors 30A wants to help make your trip all you dreamed. We offer art classes for children 3-5 or 6 and up. You can even book our studio for a ladies’ night to create fun artwork with your friends. Contact us today to learn more or to get started by booking a class for your child.
